Thousands of tax return preparers are electing to participate in the Annual Filing Season Program (AFSP). There are a tremendous amount of benefits for participating in the program. Completing the required continuing education courses are a prerequisite to using the AFSP designation. Once you complete your required continuing education courses - many preparers are not sure what to do next - or more specifically what action they must take with the IRS to register with the IRS and begin using the AFSP designation and receive their record of completion from the IRS.
